ARGGHH! Do you ever have one of those days where you feel on edge or overwhelmed because of what is going on in your life? I have those days on occasion. I used to have a lot more of them.
Some of us are affected by negative emotions to the point that it can be hard to function at the level we would like to. I know that feeling. The depression that I once suffered from was the catalyst for me learning about therapeutic-grade essential oils.
When my mom first told me about essential oils, I didn’t really care about how the oils worked. I just wanted relief from the misery I was experiencing. I looked through her Reference Guide for Essential Oils and picked out the two blends that I felt I needed the most, Joy and Forgiveness. 
Opening that precious package from Young Living back in January 1997 and getting my first whiff of Joy started me on my journey to better emotional health. I applied Joy over my heart/thymus area and I felt heart open and my mood lift. That bottle of Joy gave me the fortitude to go on when I really didn’t want to.
That bottle of Forgiveness was a tricky one. When I applied Forgiveness clockwise around my navel as suggested, the first several times I felt a very controlled rage well up and out of me. I vividly remember beating a tree in my front yard with a rake, ranting about all the things I wanted to say but didn’t. Fortunately, I remembered that I had put on Forgiveness and recognized the emotional release for what it was and went with it. Forgiveness helped me accept and process my feelings and get to a place where I could forgive.
Essential oils help IF you use them! Sometimes we get so stressed or blocked that it is easy to shut down and do nothing to help ourselves. It is so important to acknowledge how we are feeling and take the time to figure out what we need to turn things abound for the better. Essential oils can be powerful tools for emotional well-being if we take the steps to help ourselves.
